Farm Vet Freeport

 Farm Vet

Freeport: 7/29-8/2

Monday

On Monday, campers learned about the responsibilities of a farm vet, and how those roles differ from a traditional pet vet. They made vet coats, and also created bags full of vet tools. In the afternoon, campers tried out their vet skills on stuffies.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, campers studied dairy farms. The senior campers made 3D models of cows and calves, while the juniors made paper plate animals. Both rooms made ice cream, and also pretended to milk a cow by filling doctor's gloves with water and poking a small hole in one of the fingers of the glove.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, the seniors engaged in farm trivia, both answering questions and creating their own. Additionally, they studied different types of fences on a farm, and tried to build 3D model fences that would keep animals safe. The juniors learned more about how vets care for animals, and practiced washing plastic toy animals.

Thursday

On Thursday we went to Pineland Farm!! Ask your camper about their favorite animal.

Friday

On Friday we enjoyed two guest speakers. Tina Cormier, a humane educator from the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, presented about horses in the morning. In the afternoon, Spark's Ark arrived to teach the kids all about the exciting animals he rescues.

DaVinci Diner - Falmouth

DaVinci Diner July 7-11, 2025 Dear Families, This week, chefs stayed busy creating a variety of delicious cuisine!  Monday On Monday, campers decorated aprons to use across the week. They also designed their dream restaurants and made meringue. Here were the learning takeaways from this cooking experience:  How to separate an egg How to listen for a change in noise from the beaters: a true chef can hear it and know when their meringue is done! Baking is all about chemical reactions. The egg whites, when beaten, mix with the air and take on a whole new consistency.  It is possible to under and over whip the meringue. BE CAREFUL ! Lastly, in almost any baking dish, you will find salt and vanilla. Believe it or not, salt actually makes sweets sweeter because the salt's tartness brings out the sweetness, and vanilla doesn’t taste good on its own but it is aromatic, and will once again bring out the sweetness and leave your dish smelling great. Tuesday On Tuesday we made bread...

Week at the Sandy Spa

WEEK AT THE SANDY SPA ON COUSIN'S ISLAND  DaVinci's Spa week is all about health beauty and science. We talk about healthy diets, exercise, products, and friendships. Here were some highlights of our week! Spa Products One of our big focuses at the sandy spa is that it is so important to know what you are putting on your body. We made all sorts of spa products this week:  Sugar Lip Scrub Avocado Face Masks Foot Scrub Hand Sanitizer Goat Soap Bath-bombs Almost every product we made contained ingredients that are most likely already in your pantry. And many of our products were edible. Exercise At the Sandy spa, a healthy life style is so important to us so we touched upon diet and exercise. Each day the girls would start their morning off with a different form of exercise.  Thai Chi Yoga Dance Boot Camp Work Out Meditation We would also walk dow...
