Grinding Gears with Engineers

 Grinding Gears with Engineers Monday On Monday, campers learned how to build strong structures by utilizing pillars. They created paper structures and statues. Tuesday  On Tuesday, campers built bridges! They used a variety of tools  to create their bridges.  Wednesday We tried the egg drop challenge! Campers built contraptions that would keep their egg safe when dropped from a high spot. In the afternoon, Junior campers built tippy towers with with foam and shaving cream. Thursday It was catapult day! Campers built catapults and tested them.  Friday On Friday campers learned about buoyancy and build boats. 
CRIME LAB Monday To kick off our super fun week at Crime Lab camp, we learned all about what forensic science is and created our own brief cases. These brief cases will hold all our detective work throughout the week! Creative Triangle Brief Case Homemade brief cases After lunch the kids had all sorts of fun creating a lie detector test and learning about hand writing analysis.  The kids are loving handwriting analysis Tuesday Tuesday was finger print day!!! The kids got to take their own finger prints, lift finger prints off glasses, and be detectives and identify finger prints of their friends.  Finger print day was so much fun! The juniors made finger print art The kids are lifting their finger print off the jars We are putting cocoa powder on our jars to uncover finger prints.  We are dusty for finger prints Wed nesday On Wednesday we made lab coats and created our own detective and forensics scientist personas. The seniors put on a play at the end of the day using props they creat

Bug Bonanza

 Bug Bonanza It's getting buggy at DaVinci this week.  Monday On Monday campers made bug journals, studied the parts of a bug, and tried to build bugs with nature and legos. In the afternoon they made bug journals and studied bugs outside. Tuesday On Tuesday the classes made bug catchers and tried catching and releasing bugs. They studied the bugs they found and sketched them in their bug journals. Campers also studied ants and did an experiment that tested what kinds of food ants liked the best.  Wednesday On Wednesday campers studied bees! They learned about the important role that bees play in our ecosystem. They learned about pollination and planted flowers. Thursday On Thursday campers studied butterflies! They made butterfly nets and butterfly inspired art. In the afternoon the campers began studying for their entomologist "conference."  Friday On Friday we hosted our entomologist conferences.
