Arctic Adventure

Welcome to the Arctic!

It has been a fun week in the Arctic. This week we had two classrooms, the Juniors (4-6 years) and the Seniors (7-11 years).

Monday

On Monday, we learned about the cold, snowy weather in the arctic and made a variety of snow-related crafts to celebrate our learning. We made puffy snow paintings, shape snowflakes, and q-tip snowflakes. The Seniors made 3D snowflakes.

Thursday

On Thursday, campers learned all about the importance of ice in the arctic. The Juniors role-played what it feels like to be a polar bear whose ice is melting. They began the game by having the entire classroom to roam. As they roamed, the ice continued to "melt" and they had less and less space to move. By the end, the class was squished onto one tiny rectangle. The class then thought of ways they could help heal the earth and made a mural depicting a healthy arctic.

The seniors also experimented with melting ice, exploring how ice melting impacts the animals of the arctic. They began their day by placing an assortment of animals onto large chunks of ice. Throughout the day, they observed how the animals were impacted as the ice melted.  Additionally, the class made paper models of the arctic.

The campers also got the chance to see a REAL polar bear footprint!

It was Fun Friday at DaVinci! The seniors kicked off their morning with a round of Pictionary while the Juniors had paper airplane contests in the gym. After snack time, both classes made arctic watercolors. In the afternoon, campers were given the choice of playing outside or making art in the classroom.

DaVinci Diner - Falmouth

DaVinci Diner July 7-11, 2025 Dear Families, This week, chefs stayed busy creating a variety of delicious cuisine!  Monday On Monday, campers decorated aprons to use across the week. They also designed their dream restaurants and made meringue. Here were the learning takeaways from this cooking experience:  How to separate an egg How to listen for a change in noise from the beaters: a true chef can hear it and know when their meringue is done! Baking is all about chemical reactions. The egg whites, when beaten, mix with the air and take on a whole new consistency.  It is possible to under and over whip the meringue. BE CAREFUL ! Lastly, in almost any baking dish, you will find salt and vanilla. Believe it or not, salt actually makes sweets sweeter because the salt's tartness brings out the sweetness, and vanilla doesn’t taste good on its own but it is aromatic, and will once again bring out the sweetness and leave your dish smelling great. Tuesday On Tuesday we made bread...
