Meteorology Magic Falmouth ME July 22 - 26, 2024

Monday

Today we talked about what are the different aspects of weather. We touched on some keywords like humidity, condensation, and evaporation. We were all enraptured by our cloud/rain in a jar experiment.

Tuesday

Cloud day!!!!! We learned the different cloud names, how to identify them, and what these clouds can tell us about the weather. We had so much fun with our shaving cream cloud experiments and we made cloud scapes.

Wednesday

This is the day that all the campers had been eagerly await... natural disaster day. We constructed and erupted volcanos and learned about volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, hurricanes, and tornados.

Thursday

This was a great day to discuss the different careers that you have related to weather. We brainstormed an impressive list and then got to work scripting our own weather forecasts. Using imagination, props, costumes and our newfound weather knowledge, our campers filmed their forecasts.

Friday

The kids finished up the week with a weather mural and a formal viewing of the edited weather forecast. And of course, we finished the day off with our classic sprinklers and popsicles.

Zoo Vet—Falmouth 2024

Monday On Monday, the campers got a chance to design their own zoos and use costumes and tools for Zoo Vet dramatic play. Tuesday Messes bring on the magic in our world. Campers made shaving cream zoo animal art and even got to view a National Geographic educational video on the Jungle. Wednesday Safari day!!! Campers got to meet Crocodile Kristen who took them on a jaunt around campus like never before, learning about Zoo animals as they went. Thursday Field trip day!!! We got to go to the Maine Wildlife Park and stop for ice cream on the way back. Stay tuned for pictures of some of the junior campers' very first bus ride! Friday The kids finished off a great week with a presentation by Sparks Ark with all his exotic and local animals. Juniors on the Bus Here are the sweet, sleepy zoologists on their (for some first ever) bus ride!

DaVinci Diner - Falmouth

DaVinci Diner July 7-11, 2025 Dear Families, This week, chefs stayed busy creating a variety of delicious cuisine! Monday On Monday, campers decorated aprons to use across the week. They also designed their dream restaurants and made meringue. Here were the learning takeaways from this cooking experience: How to separate an egg How to listen for a change in noise from the beaters: a true chef can hear it and know when their meringue is done! Baking is all about chemical reactions. The egg whites, when beaten, mix with the air and take on a whole new consistency. It is possible to under and over whip the meringue. BE CAREFUL ! Lastly, in almost any baking dish, you will find salt and vanilla. Believe it or not, salt actually makes sweets sweeter because the salt's tartness brings out the sweetness, and vanilla doesn’t taste good on its own but it is aromatic, and will once again bring out the sweetness and leave your dish smelling great. Dr. DaVinci Falmouth

Monday To start the week, the junior campers had a drawing brainstorming session of what they knew about doctors. Seniors campers spoke to their knowledge and made doctor bags/briefcases out of recycled materials. Both groups created body models with which they could incorporate various systems and organs including the brain and nervous system—which the "big kids" dove into further. = Tuesday For our doctors, the heart and circulatory system was the focus of Tuesday. They built their own stethoscopes and played heart rate game. This involved doing low intensity versus high intensity activities and then comparing their heart rates/pulses. Wednesday On Wednesday, campers learned about the lungs and the respiratory system. Both seniors and juniors created lung models (of different complexities). Then after talking about how the lungs fill up in a way similar to balloons, we held a balloon party—many campers were able to blow them up with their impressive lung capacities! Thurs...
