It was an artsy week at Illustrious Illustrators!

Monday

We made our own hand sanitizer to keep clean at camp. In the afternoon we discussed how illustrations help with storytelling, and we created illustrations to a popular folktale.

Tuesday

We studied Maine author/illustrators Dahlov Ipcar and Chris Van Dusen. We created works of art that were inspired by these artists.

Wednesday

The Juniors studied Mo Willem's Elephant and Piggie books and tried to emulate his style. The Seniors surprised the Juniors by putting on an Elephant and Piggie play. The Seniors studied Calvin and Hobbs and made their own cartoons.

Thursday

We studied claymation. Each camper made their own claymation character and we created stop-motion claymation movies and flip-books. Here is a clip of some of the juniors' work!

Week at the Sandy Spa

WEEK AT THE SANDY SPA ON COUSIN'S ISLAND DaVinci's Spa week is all about health beauty and science. We talk about healthy diets, exercise, products, and friendships. Here were some highlights of our week! Spa Products One of our big focuses at the sandy spa is that it is so important to know what you are putting on your body. Organic can be expensive and sometimes misleading. We made all sorts of spa products this week: Sugar Lip Scrub Avocado Face Masks Foot Scrub Hand Sanitizer Goat Soap Bath-bombs Almost every product we made contained ingredients that are most likely already in your pantry. Eccentric Art - Falmouth

Dear Families, Eccentric Artists enjoyed a variety of quirky crafts this week. Be sure to keep scrolling to see all the activities your camper enjoyed. Overview of the Week 3D art: campers represented an animal or person in three ways: tinfoil, clay, and cardboard. Jewelry: artists made friendship bracelets, pins, and also enjoyed "jewelry stations," where they were invited to assemble a variety of jewelry types. Home decor: Dream catchers, napkin rings, wind chimes, oh my!! We made a variety of crafts to adorn the home. Sensational Sea Life: Falmouth!

Dear Deep Sea Explorers, It was a fin-tastic week at camp! 🐟 🐠 Campers explored the zones of the ocean with a variety of interactive crafts, a field trip, and a live lobster visit. Camp Highlights Ocean folders: Students created interactive folders that teach about the three primary ocean zones: sunlight, twilight, and midnight. Across the week, they learned about the types of animals and plants that live in each zone. Lobsters: campers enjoyed a live lobster visit and learned about the important role lobsters play in Main's economy and ecosystem. Field trip: campers spent Thursday at Wolfe's Neck, engaging in a beach scavenger hunt and a hearing a talk from a local scuba-diver.
