We made our own hand sanitizer to keep clean at camp. In the afternoon we discussed how illustrations help with storytelling, and we created illustrations to a popular folktale.

The Juniors studied Mo Willem's Elephant and Piggie books and tried to emulate his style. The Seniors surprised the Juniors by putting on an Elephant and Piggie play. The Seniors studied Calvin and Hobbs and made their own cartoons.

We studied claymation. Each camper made their own claymation character and we created stop-motion claymation movies and flip-books. Here is a clip of some of the juniors' work!
Monday To settle into our forensic labs, campers made their own detective brief case to hold their forensic files. Older campers played a life sized game of clue, while younger campers transformed their room into a police department. Tuesday It's finger print day!!!! Older campers spent the day learning about finer prints, using an ink-pad to take finger prints, playing a mystery classroom matching fingerprint game, and lifting their finger prints off a glass with cocoa powder and tape. Younger campers learned about their finger prints, and got to use ink-pads to make finger print art. Wednesday The big day has arrived! A real life police office came to camp and talked to all our campers about forensics and being a police officer. He even took our official finger prints. Monday On Monday, the campers got a chance to design their own zoos and use costumes and tools for Zoo Vet dramatic play. Tuesday Messes bring on the magic in our world. Campers made shaving cream zoo animal art and even got to view a National Geographic educational video on the Jungle. Wednesday Safari day!!! Campers got to meet Crocodile Kristen who took them on a jaunt around campus like never before, learning about Zoo animals as they went. Thursday Field trip day!!! We got to go to the Maine Wildlife Park and stop for ice cream on the way back. Stay tuned for pictures of some of the junior campers' very first bus ride! Friday The kids finished off a great week with a presentation by Sparks Ark with all his exotic and local animals. Monday We spent our day making lab coats, designing a vets office, and listening to our guest speaker, Sparks Ark, present his exotic animals. Tuesday An amazing mom came in with a fantastic presentation about dog agility and training. She talked about training service animals and the children loved it (shout out to Karen)!! The children also made their own human agility courses which was adorable. Wednesday A vet came to talk about how a vet check up at a vet's office works and passed out some check up sheets for the kids to use on their stuffed animals as practice. Then a sweet black lab came in and all the kids got to take her heart beat with a real stethoscope. Our pet visits in the afternoon were extra special when we got to meet two ponies (one miniature pony named Taco and one pony named Squid) and a turkey named Sweat Pea.
